Interactive Smart Planter

Smart Planter

Interactive planter that communicates plant health through emotional expressions and gesture-based interactions, addressing the common challenge of houseplant care through engaging technology design.

The smart planter uses visual emotional indicators—happy, neutral, and sad expressions—that correlate directly to soil moisture conditions. Users can wave their hands near the device to receive detailed soil condition information, while a button press activates the planter’s musical feature, creating a playful interaction that encourages regular plant care attention.

Design Challenge & Approach

This collaborative project required learning Arduino programming and electronics integration from scratch while designing an approachable user experience for plant care. The challenge centered on translating technical sensor data into emotionally resonant feedback that would motivate consistent user engagement with plant maintenance routines.
